HISTORY AND MILESTONES

As one of the main commercial and military vehicle manufacturers in Türkiye, BMC was established in 1964 in İzmir. With the many successes accomplished since its establishment, BMC's history is full of accomplishments.

1964

BMC was established.

1973

Türkiye's first foundry was established within BMC's commercial body.

1976

The first Apprentice Training Center in the Aegean Region was established.

1990

MD Series lightweight commercial vehicle production began.

1992

A Turkish company joined the Paris Dakar Rally for the first time, with a special (6x6) truck driven by Renç Koçibey.

1996

First 100% national truck with intellectual and industrial property rights owned by a Turkish company,

1999

The production of military vehicles began.

2007

First natural gas powered eco-friendly bus was manufactured.

2009

BMC R&D Center was established.

2015

Following the production of Mine Protected Armoured Vehicles AMAZON and VURAN, Defence Industry Vehicles product line was expanded.

2016

As a part of R&D Center Projects, collaborations were initiated with Tübitak and Aselsan in order to diversify the of Defence Industry product lines.

2017

BMC POWER was established to produce Türkiye's domestic and national engines.

2019

A serial production contract was signed for the domestic and national Main Battle Tank ALTAY.

2019

KİRPİ II, the renewed version of KİRPİ, which became legendary with its superior protection performance in the Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicle class, was produced.

2019

The modernized BMC İzmir Pınarbaşı Facilities were opened.

2024

BMC celebrates its 60th anniversary.

1966

Initial production began with TM Series trucks under the name of Leyland.

1975

A diesel engine was manufactured in Türkiye for the first time.

1986

The production of first turbocharged vehicles

1991

Doğanlar Bus Factory was put into use.

1995

A Turkish automotive company received an ISO 9001 Quality Certificate for the first time.

1998

BMC became the first Turkish commercial vehicle manufacturer to export its products to Europe.

2004

First lightweight commercial vehicle with intellectual and industrial property rights owned by a Turkish company,

2008

The production began for the first 100% domestically manufactured, solo and articulated fully low-floor bus

2009

The manufacturing of Mine Protected Armoured Vehicles began, bearing the name of

The world launch of the TUĞRA New Generation Truck and Tractor Family was held at the IAA Hannover Fair.

2019

BMC Next 50 Year Vision Meeting President Mr. It was held with the honor of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

2019

Mass production of TUĞRA trucks started.

2020

BMC DEFENCE was established for the tank and new-generation vehicle projects. Work has been started for the production of tracked and new-generation vehicles at Sakarya Arifiye Facilities.

2022

BMC's new hero ALTUĞ 8x8 has been produced. The ALTUĞ 8x8, which was launched worldwide during IDEF'21, has two kinds different configurations as Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) and Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV).
